When not studying, there are a lot for students to do around Berkeley and the Bay Area!
- Berkeley is a university town with many advantages – a wealth of culture, great food and entertainment, and enjoyable weather throughout the year.
- San Francisco, only a 20-minute BART (subway) ride from Berkeley, is a must-see metropolitan paradise with attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Fisherman’s Wharf, and world-class shopping at Union Square.
- The Bay Area also includes sight-seeing opportunities such as Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, Silicon Valley, and Napa Valley.
- Within several hours drive, Monterey Bay, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park can add to the adventure of studying English at ESI.
